Consular Services - Police Clearance Certificate (Police Record)

Procedures for obtaining Police Record

In order to obtain a Police Record, you are required to submit the following documents directly to the Criminal Records Office of the Police Department, 34 Duke Street, Kingston, Jamaica (922-6214 or 922-3221), by way of a proxy (family member or friend in Jamaica – explained further below):

1. Finger prints (to be signed and stamped by the police or a reputable agency – the name of the person taking the fingerprints must be clearly stated on the document). The Embassy provides this service at a cost of ¥4,000. Kindly communicate to us the most convenient time for you to make the relevant arrangements to visit the Embassy. You may also visit the nearest police station and ask whether they are able to also do same. The document must also be notarised/stamped appropriately. Please note that if the Police record is any other language besides English, it must be translated to English and then notarised.

2. Two passport-sized photographs (should not be certified or embossed)

3. Front bio-data page of passport (must be certified). The Embassy provides this service at a cost of ¥2,000 per copy or notarised by a Notary Public.

4. A letter of authorisation signed by the applicant must be provided if the police record is to be collected by someone / proxy (family member or friend in Jamaica). The bearer must have identification. The Embassy may authenticate same on your behalf at a cost of ¥2,000 per copy or notarised by a Notary Public. 5. Complete the attached application form for the JCF Police Record request here. The Total fess payable to the Embassy would, therefore be ¥8,000. Please ensure to carry the exact amount.

Jamaican side of the process:

6. International Bank draft/money order made payable to The Commissioner of Police – Only required if your proxy is unable to make payments in Jamaica on your behalf. The fees for the relevant processes in Jamaica are:

JA$3,000.00 - Regular Service- 21 working days

JA$6,000.00 - Express Service – 5 working days

JA$8,000.00 - Next Day Service (available ONLY at 34 Duke Street)

If the applicant does not have a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), payment must be made at the Jamaica Constabulary Force Finance Branch, Ground Floor, NCB North Tower, 2 Oxford Road, Kingston 5, then the receipt and documents taken to the Technical Services Division (Criminal Records Office), 34 Duke Street, Kingston.

If the applicant has a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), payment must be made at any Inland Revenue Department (Tax office) island-wide, and the receipt and documents taken to the Technical Services Division (Criminal Records Office), 34 Duke Street, Kingston.
